Hi there,
i have a strange Problem or bug.
I create a pie graph an with the help of the clipping mask i create a Donut. In this way i can still change the data of the graph. Works perfect till here. The problem is when I close the file and open again the mask is gone and the donut is turned into the pie graph again. The mask itself is still there. But I have to undo the clipping mask and mask it again. If I would have to do just one pie chart would be no probelem. But will have to do about 60. And this will kill a lot of tome then.
Thanks in advance!
Greetings
Oliver

Is this the sort of thing you mean?
I made this as a test, closed and reopened the file and all seemed well.
Can you reproduce this bug in a new file? Could you share it if so?

Hi Doug,
thanks for the quick response!
Thts exatly what I mean. The only difference is that I have the naming of the fields as well.
I attached the file.

Can you share an AI file?
I wonder how you managed to clip the graph but exclude the fields -- as they are a single object unless you ungroup the graph.

AI files cannot be uploaded to the forum. You would need to share the file via some other service.
I tried again with this file and had no trouble opening and closing it:

Thanks for yours! This is working here too.

I guess i found the problem. When I put the circle and the rectangle (to make the naming visible) firdt to one path together and then mask the pie chart it works.
But if I just mask the graph just with the cicrle first and put the rectngle afterwards to the mask (like shown in the video) the problem is there.
But this is of course no problem.
Thanks so much for your help to figure it out!
And maybe you can check too if the bug appears at your end too.
Greetings
Oliver

I can't tell you what's going on if your file changes after you save it, but this is what I did:
1. Delete the two <Rectangle> items (they appear to be copies of part of the clipping mask)
2. Ungroup the compound path and graph.
3. Create (or recreate) a clipping mask with the compound path and graph.
4. Save the file. It opened the same as I saved it.

That's the difference. If you do the clipping mask with the compound path and graph at once it works.
Bur not if you ad a shape to the compound path after you created the clipping mask.
