Clipping mask not working in Illustrator

Explorer ,
May 15, 2025 May 15, 2025

I have a background image that I want to take the vector text that is in front of it and mask it. I have done this in the past but now it seems to not be working. I end up with nothing visible inside my letters. Please see screen shots below. Btw I am on a Mac Version Sequoia 15.3.2 and Illustrator 29.4

Probably your South object is just a group and not an entire compound path.

Try to convert South to a compound path and create your clipping mask again.
