Clipping will be lost on roundtrip to tiny while opening SVG in Ai 27.8.1

Yes, I have seen all the other posts showing solutions, but none seem to work for me 😞

I generated a QR Code, using the Adobe Express "Generate QR code". Since the output would be print document, I decided to export to SVG (Why not PDF? This is all Adobe, after all...)

I create a new AI document and place the the svg. I get the error "Clipping will be lost on roundtrip to tiny" and I get a blank page. 

If I do a Ctrl-A, I get 

I can see the objects, but I don't know which to fill.

Printing to a PDF printer from a browser, gives me a black box. Once again I can see the "skeleton" but I don't know what to 'color'.

Opening on Inkscape, shows the QR with no errors, but if I "Save As..." a PDF file, I get the black box.

I would really like to have these programs work together. 

Any other solutions for QR codes, with export as vector and no funny redirections?

You can generate QR codes in InDesign.

What you can do in Illusstrator is:

Open the Layers panel.

Get rid of the black rectangle

Release all the clipping masks - you might need to do Object > Clipping mask > Release twice.

Apply a black fill to those paths.

You could upload it to Dropbox or the like and post a link there or just have it ready when someone asks for it.

Just in case that the SVG is your workfile: Don't. It will never work. SVG for Illustrator is not a native file format and most probably never will be. Your work file should always be AI. SVG is an export format. Export it and then never open it again in Illustrator.

In that case, it is exactly the same scenario as OP, I generated a QR code with Adobe Express, wanted it to be vector so that there is no issue with scaling it up and down. I've imported it into Illustrator and it doesn't display correctly. I would suggest Adobe to offer an option with a PDF export if SVG cannot be handled properly. SVG
is so widely used on the web, especially for vector logos, that in an ideal world, a high degree of compatibility with it would be very welcome! But nonetheless, if not possible, then a clean export to a vector PDF file would just do the job instead.

The Express generated QR codes can be cleaned up. It's not that complicated actually.

Thank you very much Monika, yes, that's what I ended up doing. I also just have tried with InDesign, it is actually much faster than Adobe Express, thanks for the tip! Next time, I will just use InDesign and copy paste it into Illustrator!

I think the trouble with this is the (shall we say "unconventional") way Express creates the file. Those dozens of clipping masks instead of just creating paths and fill them with black.

As suggested on Illustrator Uservoice, I just renamed the extension of the SVG file to TXT and attached it.
