Color Issue

I make all my files in CMYK.

I had a file and opened it up and all the colors were muted. It keeps happening to multiple files when I open them.

The ONLY thing I have changed is I recently uninstalled & reinstalled Illustrator. When opening these files, it seems they all were somehow converted to RGB color. Unless something else is going on...even if  I bring in a jpeg, it distorts the color.

I don't know how it happened...but is there a way to fix it so I don't have to remake all these files?

How is your color management set up?

It looks like it was changed to custom somehow..but I switched it to Illustrator and it seems to have fixed the situation!
