Hi, may I know if there is anyone facing the issue with wrong colour output after exporting from Ai artboard into JPEG / PDF?

There may be a slight difference in color values when exporting to jpeg.

That is the way the lossy jpeg compression works. One of the ways it uses to compress the file is throwing away some colors.

There are only 4 colours in the artwork. It doesn't has many though... and the one running off covered the biggest portion.

Hi Ton,
the color profile in Ai was sRGB. After output into JPEG, we used PSD to check the color code.
However, PNG output is correct. This is very strange.

PNG uses lossless compression and does not change colors.

JPEG uses lossy compression, so color change is to be expected.

If you want to check it. Create the color in Photoshop, save as jpeg with the same setting as in Illustrator, close the file and open it to see the result.

Hi Ton,
PSD output is totally fine, the JPEG output is correct. only Ai output will have issue.
Embed Ai as smart object will be showing the correct color code in PSD too.

Yes, but what are the color values?

As an example

R41 G171 B226

becomes

R41 G170 B227

when exported to jpeg.

Correct, the same happens when you save a file with those values in Photoshop as jpeg.

What are your Color Settings? and what are your Export Settings?

For instance, when you export JPG, you have the option to include or not the ICC profile assigned to your document, assuming one was assigned to begin with. (That is determined based on your application's Color Settings, and whether the document is color managed or not under Assign profile). Without any of this set properly, and an embedded ICC, whatever viewing application will assume its own default instead of honouring what you expect.

Same with PDF.... e.g. what are your settings for Output > Color Conversion when you save as PDF?

There are lots of ducks to line up here.

Hi Brad,
Color Setting was sRGB IEC61966-2.1
When exporting, it was Progressive then we tried both embedded ICC and without embedded ICC. For PDF, we saved "no conversion".
This issue is quite random, it was all good previously. Only happened with color run-off last night.
