Colours displaying dull inside Illustrator UI

New Here ,
Dec 02, 2025 Dec 02, 2025

All my colours inside illustrator are appearing much much duller than the same file exported to Acrobat, loaded into After Effects or viewed in any other programme and I'm the only person in my workplace who is having this issue.

I've double triple checked all my colour settings and it is not a CMYK/RGB issue.

Has anyone experienced this before? Does anyone know how to fix it? Is it a bug in my illustrator?

See below for a comparison in Illustrator and in Acrobat:

Please any help would be appreciated.

Hello @Lewis352545836ac8,

Are you using Illustrator on Windows? If so, would you mind trying the suggestions shared in this community post (https://adobe.ly/4posfb3) to see if they help?

If you're using macOS, please try recalibrating your monitor for sRGB (https://adobe.ly/48rxwJ1), restart your computer, and then relaunch Illustrator to see if this resolves the issue.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Are your color settings between Acrobat and Illustrator synchronized? Are they using the same RGB or CMYK color profile?

They are different, your RGB is Monitor rgb in Acrobat. Try synchronizing in Bridge.

Also check the if the Document Color Profile is different from you working RGB setting in Illustrator.

Hi Ton, I had already synchronised in bridge so assumed that monitor RGB was the same just a different naming convention. Although now every time I change the RGB in acrobat it bounces back to monitor RGB when I open up my preferences again.

My working RGB setting in illustrator is as below:

Your document profile looks fine. Try using Bridge to synchronize the settings, in Acrobat they say Custom.

I think I know why in Acrobat it says custom. Checking Color Settings in Acrobat and clicking OK makes them unsynchronised in Bridge (a known bug). Maybe you can Select the "Europe General Purpose 3" setting in Acrobat to get them synched again.

Still no different! Might be worth noting that colours in After Effects/Photoshop/Acrobat all display colours the same. It's just illustrator that's the odd one out. Puzzling one! Appreciate your help 🙂

Thank you Anubhav! This has sorted the issue:

I'd argue there is still a slight disparity but it's certainly much less noticeable.
