Compound Path not Come

Two starts are overlaping each other. I want to make a compound path of both. But unwnted parts are coming. How to fix it? video also uploaded.

Can you please share the Illustrator sample file with the stars you are going to convert into a compound path?

Just the GPU preview not working with this too well.

Also, try using (Alt key) "Exclude" in the Pathfinder palette.

Does that look better in CPU preview? If not: are all the paths really closed?

It is this shape tool creating the star. Because of this reason I assumed that path is closed.

Yes, the paths are closed. In order to check wheter paths are closed, select them and then open Window > Document info and in the panel menu select "Objects". Illustrator will then tell you if it's closed.

Your issue is often caused by the GPU preview when the graphic card and Illustrator do not fully cooperate.

If it is a blank canves, star is producing correct compound path. If canves is not blank star's compound path is distorting.

The reason is that your graphic card or its driver is not fully compatible with Illustrator.
