Conversion of .VP files to PDF

Hi all,

we have just started a project to archive some historical documentation. There is a coupel of .vp files, that noone can read. So we are trying to convert the files to pdf. My investigation resulted in the requirement to find a working Ventura Publisher in the range from version 7-10. I found one trial version of VP8 and installed it on my XP. When starting I get a "check lock failed" message. Maybe someone can help.

Ventura Publisher has nothing to do with Illustrator. If you are looking for someone who might have some insight I would search in layout related forums. Maybe in the InDesign space of this community.
