Converting CMYK text to 100% k in illustrator

I have an illustrator document that contains outlined text and some simple graphics, all in CMYK black. I need to convert all these to 100% k black. When I select the text the swatch panels shows it as black, but when I check Overprint Preview, it's made up of CMYK mix. The file was supplied to me as RGB and I converted it to CMYK which I think may have something to do with this problem, but any help would be appreciated!

Yes, converting from RGB to CMYK gives you the mixed inks black, but the swatches name does not change.

You can select the Black swatch, choose: Select > Same > Fill Color and change the selection to 100% K

Repeat for Same Stroke Color

p.s in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.
