Converting text with a stroke to paths?

I've got some text that has a .5 pt stroke applied to it & I need to convert it to paths, to be able to make it part of a compound path.
When I convert the text to paths, it loses that stroke.

Is there anyway to do this & keep the stroke?

Figured it out & leaving this here, in the event someone else has this problem.

After converting to paths, I offset the path .25 pt & it gave me the type I needed!
