Create a pattern

Hello everyone,

I created a base for a pattern. However I encounter an issue. (Files attached)

For my pattern to be correct, I would have to cut the half of the logo at the top left, and same for the logo at the bottom left. So that when creating the pattern these two would stick together.

If it was a simple image I could easily crop it, but it's not. I tried every possible tool to cut it and it never looks perfect. I guess there is an easier way to do it but I can't find it depsite the several tutorials I watched.

Thank you for your help,

Marine

If you have a sufficiently recent version of Illustrator you do not need to cut the logo. Remove either the top or bottom logo, select all the remaining logos, go to Object menu > Pattern > Make and adjust the height and width values in the dialog box until you are satisfied with the result, then click Done (Fini, je suppose), then apply your pattern as you wish.

Because the pattern is staggered the way it is, you will of course need to cut logos in half (like you say). But this is not a problem. Just consider carefully the shape of the pattern's defining rectangle. It must be an exact multiple of "logo + gap", vertically and horizontally. Thus your half logos will be on the same side of the rectangle.

The final values shown in my illustration will probably not be the ones you want, as I made some (unnecessary) adjustments to the sizes of your logos before I proceeded, and then I adjusted the width and height values very quickly by eye.
