Create a scan code to open an illustrator file for plotter

I work for a large format printing company. Our Zund plotter has the ability to read a scan code to automatically open the file to cut. But I do not know how to actually create the code to corodinate this feature. Has any one tried or done this?

Thank You

Yes. Im still waiting to hear from Zund. We have a specific way of setting up our runs, and not sure if their software will work. It sounds like there might be a way of setting of the codes and placing them on our job jackets, which would be perfect, But I dont know how to actually create a code that will take the zund to the propper file location.

I'm not familiar with Zund plotters. But just about any large format printing setup that involves printing and cutting will require registration marks (or a QR code in this case) to be generated when the job is first printed. Usually prints are removed from a large format printer and then laminated before any contour cutting is done. What kind of software is being used to generate the prints? Is it a stand-alone large format printing RIP application or perhaps a plugin for Illustrator?

We use Onxy for our rip software. I would love to be able to add the code to our job jackets. I think that would be the most efficient for our system.

Thrive can generate QR Codes as part of a print label to hold all sorts of job data. Print labels can be contour cut in case they needed to be applied to something else, such as a work order, shipping box, etc.
