is there a simpler way to crop an image than to use the 'crop image' tool?

Select a rectangle together with an image and use the shortcut to make a clipping mask (cmd or ctrl 7).

The crop functionality is even easier than an eraser. It practically works like in Photoshop, so if you compare it to Photoshop, then I don't know how much easier you could imagine it to be.
