Dashed lines issue

Out of nowhere all of my dashed lines now contain a solid line running through them despite having no fill. Even going to create a dashed line, you cannot see the dashes unless turning up the stroke weight because the dashes are hidden behind the "ghost" line.

are you certain there's no extra stroke applied to the appearance? Or at the layer/group level?
