Decimal numbers in Illustrator no longer supported?

I design a lot of stuff using Illustrator, and in the newest version, on an M1 Mac, designing anything has become more difficult. If I want to draw a shelf that isn't a simple 6" X 24", but is, say, 6.5 X 24.75, I'm SOL. Illustrator used to do fine with decimal numbers. Not any more. I have to use whole numbers. If I try to type in a decimal number the decimal point is erased [by the app!] and my 24" X .75" slot becomes a 24" X 75" hole. Unacceptable, to say the least. What am I doing or not doing wrong? There's no screenshot because this is a matter of an application determining content. The decimal point simply disappears.

Hi. Just use a comma instead of a dot. Example: ,5

Ah, so that's it. I was wondering about that use (inconsistantly) of European notation in Apple documents. But I hadn't thought it would be used in Adobe apps. OK. Simple enough. Thanks for pointing it out.
