Ton's solution should work. It is also possible to convert them to "Symbols" and scale the symbol.
@CarlosCanto wrote a great script that converts selected objects into separate "Static Symbols". Once it has run you just need to replace all symbol instances with the same symbol and delete the unused Symbols. Using the "Replace" pulldown menu in the Options Bar makes this easy.
