DEVELOP FOR ANDROID

New Here ,
Dec 11, 2023 Dec 11, 2023

I can not express how infuriating it is to spend over $700 a year for the creative package and not have access to any graphics tools on my tablet. Especially to see a few months ago Fresco was released for Windows.

You might try upvoting the request on the Illustrator Uservoice page (which is where the Illustrator team would see the request):

I think part of the problem is the Android platform is pretty "fractured" in terms of tablet models. Various companies who make Android phones and tablets, such as Samsung, do not use the plain vanilla Android UI. They apply their own "skin" to the OS. It would probably be considerably more difficult for Adobe to develop versions of apps like Illustrator for Android due to those factors.

I'm not saying any of this to knock Android. I use a Samsung S22 Ultra phone and I prefer it over an iPhone. One thing I prefer about Android devices is I can attach my phone to my Windows PC and it connects as if it's an external hard drive. I can see any folder in the phone using Windows File Explorer and move files on or off the phone easily. I can load a bunch of albums of music on the phone without having to use some app like iTunes to do it. I own an iPad Pro; it's great for drawing things directly on screen. But it's more of a pain to move files between it and a computer (I have to use iCloud or Dropbox). I can "zap" open files between Illustrator on my PC and Illustrator on my iPad pretty easy though.

Anyway, the best thing to do in the meantime is following Myra's advice. Post a request in the Adobe User Voice forums. If more and more people request a version of Illustrator to run on Android tablets they might deliver one.
