I recently created a desing in Illustrator with letters on a curve. After I save it to the cloud and open it back up, the letters keep disappearing, and causing me to have to redo the steps all over again, and again, every time I save and exit. I even set the words to locked, yet it still keeps disappearing. I have multiple versions saved online they are all being effected randomly. What can I do to stop this? I am running the current versio of Illustrator on a Mac Running the current version of Mac OS Sonoma.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

There are a couple of posts about that issue. It has been a bug in the recent version. Which version are you using?
Such as this: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/type-on-path-tool-bug/td-p/13933736. (there are more)

I am using 2024 Illustrator and it is 28.0 on a Macbook Pro, 2019, running Sonoma 14.2.1. The program also crashed several times as I was changing colors in a vector file. I have a pretty big processor and lots of memory, so that was frustrating.

So saving to my computer instead of the cloud seemed to work. What's the point of saving to the cloud if it messes up my file? Hope this can be corrected.

I like the idea of cloud-based storage as a backup of frequently used files. In my humble opinion, I just have better luck saving first to the local hard disc and then uploading a copy of the file to the cloud. I do not like saving direct to the cloud, not unless I'm going to save to another local volume before closing the file. Glitches with Internet connections happen all the time. My cable Internet service plan went from 50Mb/s to 1Gb/s. Yet it's still flaky. I don't trust it. Save any file you want to keep forever on two different volumes.

Thank you for sharing. Yes, I save to both volumes too and also make multiple copies. I learned the hard way.
