distribute layers to pages or show pages in layers panel

Hi there!

Whats the reaseon behind the function of layers in documents with more than one page when the pages doesn't appear in the layers panel? Why i have to strugle with context menus to find a element in the layers panel – why doesn't appear the selectet object in the middle, or on the top of the layers panel?

I suggest a function that allows the user to see pages in the layers panel an find or group the elements much easier. That has much more relevance or a productive workflow than AI content.

Artboards are not pages. A function like that would probably require a lot of organization in the document object model and would probably break a lot of existing documents and the appearances set up in them.

Even in InDesign layers span the complete document, which is a very practical thing and not having that feature for me is a deal breaker.

Yes, In Design also uses layers across all the pages … but if i'm on the actual page in ID no other element on other pages disturb my layers panel and its so much easier … Why i have to struggle with that inconvenient layerspanel? On AI i think Adobe is able to give a better option without breaking older documents … they are pros 🙂

There is a nice script by Alexander Ladygin. It creates separate layers for the contents of all artboards or a range of artboards.

Whoo … what a nice collection of scripts, great! Thanks for that – but this script doesn't work in the latest version of AI … but i'm going to try all the others … thanks a lot!

The script should work in the latest version of Illustrator.

At least it works fine for me.

Thanks Ton, biut this suggest is from 2017 … with less than 100 supporters – i think this isn't enough for adobe. I have to do it by myself or use another SW like Aff.Designer … with all the other problems …

I know a request from 2017 that has 785 supporters and is still open, and have seen requests that have been fixed with very few supporters. It depends on time and complexity and this seems difficult to fix.
