Does anyone have a fix for Illustrator being very laggy

Hi, I am currently using a 2020 27" iMac (OS Monterey, 3.3Ghz 6 core Intel Core i5, 40GB of Ram). When opening a fairly small file (less than 5mb) its extremely laggy. I've updated it to the newest version, restarted the program and restarted my computer. Nothing seems to speed it up even when it's the only program running. When a 5 minute job takes a half an hour, its very irritating.

Does anyone else have fix for this problem?

Does this happen with all your files?

Is it just opening the files or is everything else also slow?

Where is the file located? Does it also happen with local files?
