Hi all, how do you make such a chart and have it to be live data?

I know how to make a donut chart with pie chart no problem, but I don't know how to split into two sides this example above. Much appreciated!

Hi

Yes, this can be done quite easily. Watch this Youtube video from ACP tonyharmer on how:

How To Make a Donut/Doughnut Chart in Illustrator Keeping Data Live - YouTube

Tony has several courses on lynda.com / linkedinlearning.com such as this one on infographics:

Creating Infographics with Illustrator  as well as some on his youtube channel.

You can get a hole into it by applying an opacity mask.

But you can't control where it splits.

Thank you Monika. How would you tackle this design challenge then? I can see myself do two charts, then mask one for the left half, the other one for the right half, but it seems quite tedious.

Probably it will be easier to not use charts at all, but just do it with circle shapes?

Thank you Monika, I think that's the best solution for now, though I'd like to see Illustrator integrate this into its chart tool for the live data function.

Thank you Jane, but that link doesn't tell me how to split data in two half-donuts like example above.

Hi Wuts,

I see 11 donut charts. What do you mean by two half-donuts?

Hi Jane, the left side is female % and right side is male %. It's actually two data going opposite direction. If you cut in half, then you get half-donut shape.

But from your comment, I finally figured it out that I've been doing it all wrong. I should have input the data like this:

In the beginning I only inputted 3 numbers, when I should have been 4.

Thank you!
