dramas when importing a vector then changing the components

Hi Guys, 

 

I have downloaded a vector file to edit however, it is super slow to make changes in AI then when i deselect the vector after making the edits it comes up with this (image attached) how do i fix this issue? i have optimised the computer, reset the modem, tried to download and open the file in AI to disconnect it from the internet. not sure where im going wrong

I've moved your post from Using the Community to the Adobe Illustrator forum.

 

Please show your Layers panel. Spin open any disclosure triangles and resize the panel taller and wider so we can see all of it.

 

Where did you get the vector file? If it was from Adobe Stock, we can look at it if you give us the number.

Does this look better when you go to View > Preview on CPU?

 

Exactly what did you change? Did you select single letters for the changes?
