Easy update to saved libraries?

Explorer ,

Hi. I'm creating assets in a source file and saving out symbols, brushes etc into libraries to be used in several other separate files within the same project. While im in the original file, editing symbols is easy with just alt+drag to replace the old symbol/brush etc. However when I have saved the symbols into a AI library - and having that library open - the drag and drop no longer works for replacing the library symbols with newer versions. I kinda want all the separate files to always have the latest version of a symbol available via my library window.

So...

Is there a way to do this easy or do I have to re-save the library via the original source file everytime I want to change something? Would have been nice just to quickly replacing the symbol directly in the library with the latest version.

The tedious workflow would be to cut and paste all symbol/brushes from one file to another and then re-save the assets/symbols/brushes within every file.

-or copy every gfx from original document and replace gfx in symbol edit in every other document.

If you have any slick workflows please let me know.

(I dont want to use the CC-cloud service)

Basically, the way you are using/updating traditional libraries is the common way. I do not know another way to speed up that procedure considerably.

I think I can understand why you're not going to use CC Libraries for some reasons.

Like Kurt, I don't see another way to speed this up.

Symbols cannot be linked to an external instance. Once used, they become part of the file.

That makes it also impossible to use CC Libraries, when placed from a CC library, they either are placed Linked (and when embedded are expanded) or placed as a Copy which keeps them as Symbols but loses the link.
