Editing Star shapes after it's creation

Is there a way without having to add anchor points to increase the points on a star after you have made one on the artboard? Thanks.

No, you cannot edit them.

 

You can only create them differently: draw a circle and then apply the zigzag effect. This is editable.

There's some plug-in out there that emulates all of AI's parametric shapes, but keeps them editable, but I have totalyl forgotten its name or which plug-in pack it belongs to. Sorry. Maybe a web search can help you find it.
