So this is a compound path made of guides.

Or to be honest: it is completely messed up.

It would be best to release all that. Convert the guides to paths, Join them and then apply the width again. If you are lucky, you might be able get rid of the width marker in just that segment using the width tool, but you need a lot of luck for that.
