Place a psd with a transparent background.
Go to links pannel and hit the embed images button.
Select the psd, and hit embed.
PSD show up blank and when I hit OK, the psd in the file is invisable.
I've been using Adobe Illustrator since 1998 and this has never happened before.
I need a fix ASAP so I can send my files to print.
Thanks

I cannot replicate your problem.
Which Illustrator and Photoshop version are you using?

Also, I've noticed that it happens more when you use large files sizes. So try a photoshop file over 150mb.

This is a huge problem!
It never happend before, and I've been using Illustrator since 1998!
It's a must to embed my files to a printer we use in China. They will not take the files any other way.
Please help!

Does it also happen when you use .tiff instead of .psd?

I have not tired tiff.
I'm an art director, in the packaging industry. Many printers overseas want embedded files with the fonts outlined. I keep the live files with links to the psd's just in case changes need to be made later. For some reason, with the last few versions of adobe illustrator, when I hit embed image to a psd, it either shows up blank or hit has yellow and blue distorted pixels.
I can send you a screen shot video. Send me your email address and I’ll show you. Thanks

I was able to closley (not blank but scrambled and almost blank) replicate and resolve on my computer. After using embed command in links panels on an over 150mb transparent file got his.
Instead of using links panel to embed change your workflow to save your original .ai linked, but then do an additional save and add to your filename (Embed) as and turn on this.
Hope this works, and believe this will be a safer and quicker workflow for you, as I am intimately familiar with large scale and packaging work.
Thankyou, your description of the issue was done very well, and therefore was easy to find a resolution.
