Equating a length

You can draw a line with the line segment tool from point to point. Then look up its length in the transform panel and then draw a rectangle that has this height. Then using the pathfinder panel to unite that rectangle with the rest of the G

 

Make sure to turn on SMart guides in order to hit the anchors exactly
