Export for screens results in distorted text for scaled photoshop links

I have an illustrator file with two artboards of different sizes, both have links to a single photoshop file, one is is scaled scaled down to about 80% the other is 100%. The photoshop file has a text layer. When I export the illustrator file as a JPG or PNG (export for screens with no scaling) the type goes wobbly and looks distorted in the scaled image. This does not happen if I scale and export the image directly from photoshop. Rasterising the type layer does not help. How can I fix this? Example attached.

You have to click that little cog wheel  to get to the Format Settings.

Kind of difficult to compare them. Can you please embed them in your post?

Also: do not enlargen exported raster files.

Here you go, the scaling is down (shrink) not up (enlarged).

What do you use for anti-aliasing during export, Type or Art optimized?

Sorry Tom I can't see any Anti-aliasing settings in File / Export for Screens. Anti-alised Artwork is selected in Settings / General. "Type or Art optimized" sounds like the kind of thing that would help. Can you help me locate it?

Thank you Tom! Switching from Type to Art optimized (supersampling) fixed the error

Good to hear that helped. Type optimized is often the default that it should not be in my opinion.
