Export Formats that don't stay with or save for each Illustrator file

Is there a reason that the export formats don't stay with an illustrator file? For example, I export certain files that I design for social media and the web, one that exports at 1X with a suffix of "_social media" and one that exports at height 540 pixels with a suffix of "_web" to easily identify them. However, the next illustrator file I create might export as a PDF. Then, when I got back to the social media file to modify and export, it is using the last export format of PDF rather than the two formats that I prefer for that file.
