Exporting Text with stroke as SVG or DXF

Really struggling with something that i thought would be straight forward.

Ive written some text and added a thick stroke to the text. All i need from this is the outline of the stroke exported to a dxf or svg. Ive tried converting to outlines but it just seems to do the text and not the stroke of the text.

Any ideas?

In the picture i just need the outline of the whole black area converted to a line and then exported.

Hi were you able to figure this out?  I totally get what your saying, only the path for the original text exports properly in an SVG, the stroke does not.
