Eye dropper tool not picking the colors correctly

I did some color samples in Photoshop and then placed the jpg imaged in ilustrator, then when I tried to duplicate the colors with the eye dropper tool they did not match, the colors look pale in comparision and I have no idea why. Both documents are in RGB and have the same color settings. I tried it on a different computer with an older version of the program and it worked.

If the image is embedded, Illustrator can pick up the right colors.

If the image is linked it samples the preview.
