Find And Replace on All open documents

Is there a script, or can one be easily written that can make type changes on all open documents, or to a folder.

Would love to see Illustrators find and replace be able to:

1) Do multiple changes (how thew plus button in save for web options works)

2) Store recent entries

3) Soft & hard returns and access to glyphs (i am always changing curly quotes to inch marks)

its probably doable, but maybe not easily. Nice UI though.
