Font size is showing up incorrectly.

When I try to set fonts to a specific point size, they appear much larger than they should. When I try to format text, the overset text symbol shows regardless of the selected point size. Any advice would be helpful as this is very discouraging...Thanks!

Without the full info and ideally soem screenshots of the text and the character palette we can't really tell you much, but as a start reset the character panel fully from the flyout menu in its top right corner. You may simply have dialled in a value somewhere that messes up things.

Can you please take a screenshot of the text object and the character panel and also tell us how you determine that it is too large.

Sure thing.This is what point size 12 looks like. Even when I click "fit page in window", the font is much bigger than the typical sizing

Could it be that your artboard is just too small?

Can you draw a reference object to measure that typesize?

Anything that depends on a random zoom setting, is just not precise.

Can you turn on in Preferences > General > Show Print Size at 100% an zoom to 100%?
