Fonts missing in Illustrator but available in all other apps.

I cleared my cache for After Effects as it was using ~100GB of disk space, and after I did this, most of my fonts are "missing" in Illustrator, but are available to use in Photoshop, InDesing, After Effects and Premiere Pro without any issues.

I have had a long chat with ChatGPT and it guided me to many steps, and still nothing worked!

Uninstalling and installing the fonts didn't work.

Deleting font folders in Mac Library didn't work.

Reinstalling the app and restarting the computer didn't work.

Deleting caches didn't work.

Manually resetting Illustrator app and preferences didn't work.

These fonts aren't Adobe fonts, but downloaded from stock sites like Envato which I paid for.

Does ayone know how to fix this and get Illustrator to show these fonts? 😞

I have found a temporary fix - I have been using Illustrator Beta initially, and downloaded the normal version, and the font's are working there. It must be a beta update thing.

Hopefully it continues to work, thank you for your help and suggestions!

Are you using a font manager and if so: which one?

Hi Monika, I am not using a Font Manager, only Adobe Fontts for ones I download through Creative Cloud.

Hi @filipp40510727,

I understand how frustrating it must be to see your fonts working in all other Adobe apps but not in Illustrator. Adding to what our expert has suggested, could you confirm if they are installed for all users on your Mac rather than just your user account? Also, please check if the fonts appear in Font Book and are enabled without any warnings. You could also try creating a new local admin user account on your Mac and testing Illustrator there to see if the fonts appear, as this can help rule out user profile issues. Also, a safe mode testing and isolate any third-party interventions, so try that too.

Let me know how it goes.

Abhishek

Hi Abhishek,

Thank you for replying!

I am not using a Font Manager, only Adobe Fontts for ones I download through Creative Cloud.

All fonts are installed on the actual mac device, not just my user account.
Fonts are appearing active with no issues or warnings in the Font Book app.

I have created a new account on my mac, and the same issue is occuring, fonts work in all other apps, but missing in Illustrator 😞

Thanks!
