Fractured gradient on curved strokes and shapes

I cannot seem to figure out how to smooth out gradients along curves. Sometimes when I adjust a curve, that will fix it, but what do I do when I do not have any wiggle room to change the path?

The picture I attached is a circle stroke around a logo. I have used the gradient on both the large stroke and also coverting the stroke to a shape.

Apart from an inadequate card, the issue can be caused by lack of driver updating, lack of proper recognition of the card by the computer, and whatnot (including rifts in the space time, moon, weather, and the fact that Illy (job description Adobe Illustrator, and she is always eager to help) sometimes moves in mysterious ways).
