free transform tool issue

Hi everyone! I am new to the Illustrator. I was trying to edit some mockups today and needed to use the free transform tool to distort them. I watched multiple videos on how to use it. However, as you can see from the video I attached, only the top 2 tools work. When I select one of the edges when using the bottom tool and drag it, the image does not become distorted. I have been trying to figure it out for quite some time. Could someone explain to me where I went wrong? Thank you so much!

When using raster images, Free Distort and Perspective Distort do not work with the Free Transform tool.

You can encapsulate the raster image in an envelope distort to make it work (somehow).
