How do I get rid of the white background behind the letters after I have image traced?  I just want the letters to put on top of another background.  I have tried everything I xan think of.

I have the attached in AI, and can copy it - but I can't make the white behind the letters go away.....

Did you check "Remove white" in the trace settings?

By the way: the attached file seems to be a *.docx (and not *.ai)

Michael,

Maybe a silly question, but have you expanded the image trace?

Hi Hans-Jürgen.

I might have the same issue. I am new to this, someone else created the logo, my problem is I am trying to get rid of the white background.

Wendy,

Is it vector artwork or a raster image?

If it is vector artwork, you can hopefully select (some of) the white part with the Direct Selection Tool, then use the Select dropdown and choose same Fill Color, then delete whatever it is. Otherwise, please show the expended Layer in the Layers panel with (preferably the white part of) the logo selected.

If it a raster image, and you must use it, I believe the white parts are best removed in Photoshop (Magic Wand).

I would be pestering the creator of the original graphics for a vector-based copy of the artwork. The attached image looks like a screen-grab from a web page or something similar. The effects of the text following the circular curves and ribbon elements as well as the general appearance of the artwork leads me to believe it was created in a vector-based "drawing" application like Adobe Illustrator. It is possible to create similar type effects in Photoshop, but it's a whole lot easier (and more precise) in Illustrator.
