GPU Requirements for new AI Mockup (Beta) tool?

New Here ,
Oct 20, 2023 Oct 20, 2023

Hello all,

When using the Illustrator Mockup beta tool, I am receiving a message "unable to initiate the feature due to absence of GPU in this machine". AI works fine without a GPU in this machine, but I would like to purchase a GPU to use this feature.

Does this tool follow Adobe's requirements, or does it need more power than just:

GPU - Have a minimum of 1gb VRAM (4 recommended) + supports OpenGL 4.0

Thanks,

Hello @help31335616eay5,

Sorry to hear about this experience. Illustrator should work fine if the minimum system requirements are met. If you're using a Windows computer, would you mind performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/3Q3H0j5) and checking if it helps?

If you're using a Mac, try updating the OS (https://adobe.ly/46CzYJq) and share your observations.

If the problem persists, kindly share more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator and the system config (CPU/GPU/Memory), details about when you encounter this problem, and a screenshot of the error message so we can investigate this further.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hello!

I am also experiencing the same issue, I use a laptop with an intergrated gpu. ryzen 7, 5000 series. I usually do high-performance tasks on the laptop works pretty well.

Is there anyway I can solve this? or I need a dedicated gpu for this feature?

thanks!

How much memory is on the GPU and the laptop?

Hi!

I am also experiencing the same issue, and I use a Lenovo laptop with AMD Ryzen 7 4000 series, with AMD Radeon Graphics. The graphics card has 512MB of dedicated GPU-memory, and 7.7GB of shared GPU-memory. The laptop has 16GB of RAM.

LATEST

For what it's worth, we were able to resolve most of our issues by uninstalling and installing the latest driver versions. Even older video cards dated back to 2013 or so have worked well after this (we use many cheaper video cards for quad monitor outputs).

Note - sometimes the "generic" driver that Windows Update tries to install will cause an issue where Adobe doesn't recognize it. Installing the latest driver from the manufacturer (AMD, Nvidia, etc) usually works.

Hope that helps
