Gradients are wiered in new illustrator

Ever since I updated, I noticed this. 

I am trying to edit the gradient I created earlier. It doesnt pickup the color of point I am editing, instead it loads white. The color hasn't changed yet, the color picker just appeared on the screen. The moment I slide it anyway even a bit on any slider, the new color will be there on the point. this is annoying. 

Secondly the file is in RGB mode. The sliders are named RGB. THe sliders also behave like RGB after editing, thought the slider color shows CMY. is it substractive depending on final color it will have. it is confusing. and I am not sure what was the scenerio in previous one. But the loading default is a big problem.
