I basically need some standard hatching done to represent the ground on a section drawing so i created a line at a 45 degree angle, used alt click to double it to a specific distance then used ctrl d to copy the action creating a hatched frame of sorts, i then made this a pattern however, when applying this to an object (the ground) the hatching is not seemless and often has gaps or is not present after applying the swatch similar to this.
I believe this to be that when making the pattern the interface creates a rectangle of sorts around the swatch however since the lines are tilted there is empty space within the swatch border leading to gaps when applied. Is there any way to circumvent this by changing the swatch border to match the shape of the pattern completely or can the swatch pattern be tilted later on after application in order to remove the empty space. Any help would be appreciated.
You need to make the swatch with vertical or horizontal lines. Otherwiese it will be very difficult to get a seamless repeat (but nevertheless would be possible).
When you have applied the pattern, doucle click to rotate tool, and rotate by 45°. Use the options to only rotate the pattern but not the object.
