Help! Layer is gray and can’t be edited AT ALL

Hello everyone 🙂 I use Illustrator on my ipad (currently iPadOS 17.3 on my iPad Pro 12"9 2020). However, there are layers on my current canvas that I cannot edit at all. The eye symbol and lock symbol are both grey and I can't even re-name the layer or move it around. Nor can I open the layer and edit what's drawn onto this layer. 😞 Why is that and how can I edit these layers again? Please help :')

edit: after not knowing why this has happened for a few days, the problem solved itself after I ran an update on my ipad. When I opened Illustrator on my iPad after the update, I was finally able to edit the layers.
