I am using the most recent version of Illustrator, 29.6, and I've had the same problem that I've been having in previous versions. If I use the shortcut command to hide edges, the program hides instead. If I click on the actual command in the menu, it works. I had to create a special shortcut in order for this to work correctly. Anyone else experiencing this?

The problem is still there. I have a workaround, but this should not be happening. I'm used to dealing with glitches and bugs ever since Adobe decided to go to subscription based software instead of taking the necessary time to really develop the program before releasing to the public. Ahhh, the good ole days.

Can you check your Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts if Cmd H is assigned to Hide Illustrator?
By default Cmd H is assigned to Hide Edges in Illustrator.

I changed the shortcut to, command-shift-H. The shortcut, command-H, has been disabled because it did not work correctly. It kept hiding the entire program. I use command-F1 to hide Illustrator. I created that one myself.

The default shortcuts do not have a shortcut to hide Illustrator and have Cmd H to Hide Edges.

I understand that completely. I've been using Illustrator for over 27 years. This is not foreign to me at all. The original shortcut for hide edges, doesn't hide edges, it hides the entire program. That's why I created my own shortcut to hide edges. And that's also why I created my own shortcut to hide Illustrator. It used to work without any problems a few versions ago.

Then there is something wrong with your system or Illustrator install. Still works for me.

I'm glad it works for you. It works for me also since I created my own shortcuts. Now I can bypass the aggravation of this not working properly. I think that's a pretty lame response you gave. It's cool though. I'm used to Illustrator messing up my workflow because of the bugs. Never had these constant problems when I was able to purchase actual discs.

I did not mean to offend you. The defaults should work, as they do for me. If not, you need to find the disrupting factor.
There are many applications that hijack Illustrator shortcuts, you just need to find the one that does.

All good. This only recently started happening within the last few versions. Nothing on my end has changed, except for Illsutrator not working properly. If you're not able to replicate it, no big deal. I'm able to get around it. Just thought I'd check and see if anyone else experienced this. Guess not. Thanks for your help.

Command-H is a macOS shortcut to hide the windows of the front app.
I am out of my office now and I'm not sure if this needs to be disabled in illustrator or in macOS. I know that in Photoshop, it can be done in the application.

Thanks. I'm aware of that. I'm good to go now.
