Hello, I'm an Illustrator rookie.

In the attached image, I want to remove the path on which the type is centered, but keep the type. If I select just the path with the direct selection tool, it also removes the type.

How can I make it so that the path line is invisible but the type that is centered on that path remains visible? i.e., how do I separate the line from the text and discard just the line?

Thanks very much for any help you can offer!

You need to be careful when selecting that path with the direct selection tool. It wikll work best when you click exactly on an anchor point, so that it gets highlighted.

Assuming this is live type on a path, you cannot remove the path while retaining the type as live text.

You can direct select the path and set its stroke attribute to none, so it gets invisible.
