Holding Alt While Using the Blob Tool

I hold alt while using the blob tool to zoom in and out with the scroll wheel, but when I do it causes problems. 
While using the Blob tool, Is there a way to disable/change what holding alt does? the new versions of illustrator have a really annoying smoothing pop-up that goes directly in the center of my screen where i accidentally click it all the time, and i cant use the blob tool again until i close the file and reopen it.

On the mac you can with blob tool hold down option and zoom in and out with scroll wheel.

What AI version are you using, there were issues in the past that were fixed

What mouse do you have?

Logitech Options >> deselect smooth scrolling
