Is there a way to convert all layers (each layer) in one file into separate "new documents?" In other words, each layer in a document with 10 layers would become 10 separate files.
This file is getting so complex that it is now a pain to work on it, even though nothing else is open and everything is updated.
Each layer uses EFFECTS. Would it help to EXPAND APPEARANCE, or is it more efficient to leave the EFFECTS as they are (since expanding would create many more nodes)?
System Specs:
Windows 10, PC, ai 27.4.1 , 64 GB Memory, 8 TB SSD
Thank you.

Hi @DanBo948,
Thanks for reaching out. I have never done this myself, but the long way will be to create ten duplicates of the file and delete the layers.
Alternatively, you can use a script to automate the process. @Monika Gause or @CarlosCanto may know some scripts that they can suggest & which might help you.
Regarding the effects on each layer, it depends on your specific workflow and how you want to use the files. If you need to keep the effects intact, you can leave them as they are. However, if you no longer need the effects, you can expand them to reduce the complexity of the file. Keep in mind that expanding effects can create more sub-layers & groups, which can slow down performance if the file is still complex.
