hi ,
it's all in the title ,
could you tell me please how to delete a path between two anchor points without using the path eraser tool ?
When I select these two anchor points and press delete everything is gone.
ps : I want to keep the anchor points after the deletion
Thank you
with direct selection tool (white pointer) click on the path segment (not points) or drag select over it without going over anything else, and press Delete.

With some experimentation, I did find that selecting the path can leave orphan points. So keep that in mind as it may be necessary to use Object>Path>Clean up...

You will not get orphan points if you delete a segment that is not at the end of a path. For segment that is at the end of a path, or is the entire path, select the end point/s and press delete. For the one segment that is entire path you can use the selection tool (black pointer) or hold Alt with the direct selection tool (white pointer) which is useful for objects in a group.

This is an old thread, but since others have brought it forward. Yes that is how it is suppose to work. However as I stated back then, once in while you will get orphan points. Probably a bug, but it does happen.
I have not checked lately to see if it still happens or not.

Use the pen tool, click where you want a new point, because the new point is highlighted, you can hit the delete key and the path and new point will be gone, between the two points on either side of that new point.
It may sound complicated, but once you try it, it will make sense.

I joined two shapes, and now I'm trying to delete the path in the middle which was effectively separating them. (It's for a pattern and this would be the Center Front seam if I left it there, but I don't want a seam-if that's helpful)
I deleted one of the lines no problem using the pen tool, but now the other one I can't seem to get rid of. I do the same thing I just did but now its not working. Any suggestions?

I recommend that you capture your entire screen with any reverent panels open so we can see them. That said have you tried the direct selection tool to select what you want to remove? Another option is to create a cutting object and use it to remove the unwanted area. But these are only guesses without seeing what you are doing.

Here is the image, right now the line down the middle represents a seam, but I do not want a seam down the middle of the garment, which is why it must be deleted. There was 2 lines down the middle, but I was able to delete most of one no problem using the pen tool and retracing the line then deleting it. Now I can't delete the other! Each half of the shape is one whole path, so I think that is the problem?
Any help is much appreciated! I'm very frustrated with it, because now I am late on getting it sent out to my manufacturer.

It looks like it was two separate objects against each other. If that is the case, you will need to use the direct selection tool (lower case - a) Select the top point then split the point. Repeat for the bottom point. At this point you will have a line that is a separate object from the other two. Use the move (lower case v) to select the line then hit the delete key.
Next you need to select the top two points and merge then together. If they are far apart, you will see a new line, which is why it would be best to keep the two points as close together as possible. (They can be on top of the other) Then repeat for the bottom.
This will merge the two objects into one.
