How to Extend Part of an Image

Folks let me start off by saying I am an absolute beginner with Ilustrator, zero knowledge.

I have this stock .ai file:

2022-10-06_19-38-33.png

Now I want it to be A4 size, so I opened an A4 size document and placed the image in it, so now it is like this:

2022-10-06_19-38-46.png

How so I scale only the blue and red backgrounds so that they fill the top and the bottom of the page without scaling all the text and everything else with it?

Thank you and please kindly ELI5 if you do have time to respond.

With the Dirct Selection Tool, drag around the top of the shapes only - shift-drag upward.

Then do the same for the bottom of the shapes, and pull down instead.

-- This selects just the path points at the top or bottom, so you can move them without affecting the rest of the shape.

Hello @Hightime7898,

Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind checking the Layers panel and trying to find the layers containing the blue/red background and stretching it to check if it helps?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hello @Anubhav Majumder and thanks for replying. So I did try that before, I isolated the layers but when I stretch it same thing, see attachment please. Just need to extend the top and bottom without that pattern in the middle changing sizes.
