HP Stylus not registering and glitching on Illustrator (and only illustrator) ASKING AGAIN

New Here ,
Nov 16, 2025 Nov 16, 2025

Hello, I apologise if you are seeing this post again. Unfortunatley I keep having to reask because I am not getting assistance.

As seen in the attached video, when I use my HP stylus on Adobe Illustrator my stylus is frequently not registered and nothing is drawn. You can see in the video that the lines stop appearing even when I am tracing my stylus across the page and the cursor from the stlyus does not follow, but sometimes it does and still there is no output. Also at the end when drawing the alphabet less than half the letters come out. This issue has made it essentially impossible to draw things as I need to redo/trace lines about 3-5 times before they come out clearly.

This issue only occurs on Adobe Illustrator and even happens on the select tool, eraser, etc.

I am currently on Illustrator 30.0, but the issue is there on all versions. I have done all updates. I am currently on Windows Version 10.0.22631. The stylus I am using is the HP Slim Rechargable Pen (HP Slim Rechargeable Pen).

I have turned off Windows Ink but the issue is still there and I'm not sure if there was much of an effect.

I have lowered GPU perforamnce on illustrator and installed then reinstalled the 'HID-compliant pen' and the issue is still persisting and I am now noticing that sometimes the pen is slightly out of sync. Lowering GPU settings seemed to help potentially but the issue is still quiet apparent and EXTREMELY troubling when trying to draw for my assignments.

Thank you.

side note- when using the default pen option, the lines come out consistently but they dissapear as soon as I release my pen. When using any other pen the line stays but the above issues often happens. Not sure if there is a link between these issues.

Hello, I once again apologise for those who keep seeing this question pop up. Unfortunatley, I will have to keep asking until I get assistance as there is no where else to provide technical support.

This is a public forum, 95% of participants are not staff. If nobody answers, this probably means that nobody has an answer.

Adobe staff will use the forum search function to search for unanswered threads. Bumping a thread therefore makes no sense.

Hello @levi_5568,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU(s) drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/4pmxRlN) and checking if it helps?

Also, try the suggestions in this help article (https://adobe.ly/48qlKhP) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi, I am currently trying these solutions now. Unfortunatley due to me owning a company device I do not have access to administrator privellages meaning I currently have to wait before I can clean the drivers. Aside from that, I have tried altering the graphics preference but the issue is still there. I will report this bug to technical support and wait for administrator. I have tried another pen and that didn't work too.

Thank you again for the help.

Hello, unfortunatley I have no way of contacting technical support and this is the only way. I have been unable to do assesments because of this issue, but I apologise for the inconvenience it may have caused.
