Huge files using textures.

I started using textures from creative market and adobe capture. I take shapes and make clipping masks with the textures and shapes by putting the texture over the shape, copying and pasting the shape over the texture and first shape, then selecting all and doing command 7. It works fine but once I do that on a few shapes to make a pattern the file becomes really huge and sluggish and unusable. This only happens when I use textures so why? How can I fix this? My preferences were reset and illustrator reinstalled.

If these are vector textures they may contain an enormous amount of paths and points which when used as clipping masks may slow down your document.

You could try if Opacity Masks work better.
