I can't copy text out of Illustrator

Recently I've been trying to copy text in illustrator but for some reason it doesn't have the option. At first I tried Ctrl+C but it didn't paste. I tried right clicking with my mouse but it doesn't show the option to copy. It's really incovinient, does anyone know how to solve this?

Is there any clipboard enhancing utility installed in your system?

I tried in google docs, and I don't think I have one but I've never had this problem before and I've used illustrator for five years at this point.

Thank you, but my copy and past is working on everything else except text. Also in that post they found out the issue was caused by another thing.
